Nearly 14 months after a woman’s headless body was found in a trolly bag at Bhuigaon beach, the police on Thursday arrested the husband for her murder
A murder accused, who had been on the run for 10 years, was arrested by the police in Vasai town of Maharashtra, an official said on Friday.
The Reserve Bank of India announced on Monday that it has fined Bassein Catholic Co-operative Bank, Vasai, Rs 49 lakh for failing to follow prudential guidelines. The RBI said in a statement that the penalty was levied for failing to follow its instructions on 'Income Recognition, Asset Classification, Provisioning, and Other Related Matters' (IRAC norms).
The Maharashtra Excise Department's Vasai section recently seized a business that made phoney caps for well-known alcoholic beverage brands. The ED apprehended 5 suspects and seized over 2 lakh caps and machinery used to create them during the raid, which was carried out in collaboration with the Palghar unit of the department and valued at Rs 16,57,700.
The crime occurred on May 12 when the victim, Deepak Katukar, allegedly went out to meet his pals but did not return home, according to Kandivli police.
A rickshaw driver and his accomplices allegedly kidnapped a 32-year-old "mentally ill" Vasai resident and beat him to death, after alleging he had stolen their phones. The family of the deceased denied the allegation. Police identified the dead as Pradeep Mejiyatar. His sister, Romila Shah, said that he was "mentally ill since his wife left him about 10 years ago".
