Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader has warned Maharashtra police after party workers were reportedly assaulted by a policeman for raising slogans at a public program attended by Maharashtra cabinet minister Eknath Shinde.
Due to people not following social distancing even amidst COVID-19 lockdown, all vegetable markets in the Vasai-Virar region will be shut for four days from Monday.
To curb cluster infections, the Palghar district administration on Wednesday sealed several housing societies and areas in Vasai, Virar and Palghar and started doorto-door screening of residents.
On Sunday when a civic team visited the market, they were shocked to see the crowd. They seized the vegetables and loaded it on trucks. The agitated hawkers, who were in huge numbers, began picking up the vegetables like cauliflower and brinjal and threw it on the main road.
A passenger traveling in auto rickshaw died while three others including the driver sustained injuries when a civic bus rammed into the three-wheeler at Vasai on Friday.
