In their intensified drive against foreign nationals staying illegally in the country, officials from the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police commissionerate rounded-up sixteen people including 14 Nigerian nationals for overstaying sans valid travel documents and expired visa in Nallasopara on Wednesday.
Tulinj police on Monday booked a woman for allegedly stabbing a stray dog which was roaming in her Shirdi Nagar area, Nallasopara (East). The accused Taslim Ansari, 30, was furious as whenever she passed by the area the stray would bark at her. In a fit of rage, she stabbed the stray with a knife. Ansari is absconding.
A 25-year-old redeveloped residential building in Nallasopara (East) collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday. The building’s 22 residents were able to evacuate in time, and no one was injured. The four-storeyed Safalya Sangali building at Majithia Park in Achole Road collapsed at 1.15am on Wednesday. The building had been redeveloped in 2009, but in 2018, major cracks had developed in parts of the structure.
The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC), a highly-populated area of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), has not seen a single case of corona virus thus far.
