The Vasai Fort Incident has stirred strong reactions across the Vasai region after a security guard allegedly stopped a youth from filming a video while dressed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The incident, captured on video, went viral on social media and has since triggered protests by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Marathi Ekkikaran Samiti.

According to reports, a young man had visited Vasai Fort dressed in traditional royal attire representing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He was shooting a video against the fort’s historic backdrop when a Hindi-speaking security guard, identified as Brijesh Gupta, stopped him from filming.

The guard allegedly told the youth he did not understand Marathi and insisted on communicating only in Hindi, which escalated tensions. Once the video surfaced online, citizens across Vasai expressed their anger, questioning the lack of cultural sensitivity at such a historic site.

MNS Steps In and Demands Apology

In response to the Vasai Fort Incident, MNS Transport Wing District Secretary Sujit Agre, along with his supporters, reached the fort to question the security guard. Agre condemned the behavior, stating that disrespect toward Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj—a revered symbol of Maharashtra’s pride—would not be tolerated.

He demanded a public apology from the guard, which was later given. The MNS team also urged authorities to ensure that individuals stationed at cultural heritage sites understand and respect the Marathi language and traditions.

Marathi Ekkikaran Samiti Demands Local Security Guards at Forts

Meanwhile, the Marathi Ekkikaran Samiti has also become vocal following the Vasai Fort Incident. The group has demanded that only Marathi-speaking security personnel be appointed at Maharashtra’s historic forts and monuments.

Committee President Govardhan Deshmukh stated that individuals working at these sites must understand the historical and cultural significance of their surroundings. “Our forts, museums, and memorials represent Maharashtra’s identity. Guards who cannot communicate in Marathi or understand our heritage are unfit for these posts,” he said.

He further warned that if the state government fails to act, the organization would launch a statewide campaign and protests to push for this demand.

Social Media Outrage and Public Reactions

Social media platforms were flooded with reactions soon after the Vasai Fort video was shared. Many citizens condemned the incident, while others questioned how non-Marathi-speaking guards were appointed at such heritage sites.

Local residents have urged the authorities to take strict measures and prevent similar incidents in the future. Some even suggested training programs for all security staff to ensure they are aware of the cultural value of Maharashtra’s historical landmarks.

Administration Urged to Act Responsibly

Public voices from Vasai have emphasized the need for authorities to treat the Vasai Fort Incident as a serious matter. Citizens have asked for improved oversight at the fort and a clear policy ensuring that Maharashtra’s cultural pride is preserved at all heritage locations.
