The Team Palghar U-18 Championship campaign at the Maharashtra State Level Juniors (Under 18) Championship in Balewadi, Pune, has been a mix of strong wins, tough losses, and spirited comebacks. The event, held from 9 to 14 August 2025 and organized by the Maharashtra State Basketball Association, has brought together the best young basketball players from across the state.

1. Boys’ Team Starts with a Dominant Victory

Team Palghar Boys began their journey with a bang, defeating Chandrapur district 40-11 in their opening match at 7:00 AM.

Captain Kaustav Bose and Yash Pillai led the scoring, while a rock-solid defense gave their shooters freedom to strike. The win set a confident tone for their campaign.

2. A Tough Test Against Mumbai North

In their second pool game at 2:00 PM, the boys faced the experienced Mumbai North side. Despite fighting hard, they lost 50-23, with Kaustav Bose scoring 9 points.

3. End of Boys’ Campaign

With one win and one loss, the boys’ journey ended in the group stage, as only pool toppers advanced. Mumbai North secured the spot for the next round.

4. Girls’ Team Debut Against a Strong Mumbai Central

The Team Palghar Girls U-18 squad began their campaign last evening against one of the strongest sides — Mumbai Central.

While the Palghar girls defended bravely and improved significantly in the second half, the early deficit was too steep to overcome. At halftime, they trailed 21-1, eventually losing 25-5.

5. Bounce-Back Victory Over Chandrapur

This morning, the girls returned to the court against Chandrapur district. Although they started slowly and trailed in the first quarter, they stormed back in the second half to win 18-11.

Captain Diksha Rai was the star performer with 9 points, leading the charge in this crucial match.
