Ten persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Vasai-Virar region on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 43. The region has recorded four deaths. In Palghar, a three-year-old girl tested positive.
Among those who tested positive were two nurses, a doctor from a private hospital, an airport staff, a staff member each of two Mumbai hospitals, and four high-risk contacts. The areas where the cases were found have been sealed. Considering the spike in cases, autorickshaws and taxis have also been banned from plying till May 3. And the private vehicle ban will continue.
The Palghar girl was admitted to a government hospital in Dahanu. Twenty-nine persons, including 13 government doctors and nurses with whom she came in contact, have been isolated, and are being tested.
Katale Nihe, Maswan, Lohre and Vandivli in Palghar have been sealed, as villagers there had come in contact with the child’s parents, who worked as labourers in a brick kiln in Dahanu.
So far, 1,366 persons have been screened in the district; 123 tests results are awaited and 330 were negative.
