A mentally challenged girl runs away from hospital; A man runs away from the swab test at Vasai

In two separate incidents at Vasai, a mentally challenged teenage girl and a 24-year man ran away from tests for determining COVID-19 infection in the last three days.

Additional Superintendent of police, Vasai (Palghar), Vijaykant Sagar told Mirror Online on Thursday that while the man has been traced, they are still looking for the girl.

“We have launched a hunt to trace the girl.” he said.

The first incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Tulinj Police Station on June 16. A 19-year-old mentally challenged girl, who lives with her family in Vasai (east), was taken to doctors at a mental hospital in the area after she developed a severe cough and cold. She was admitted there and her swab samples were taken for COVID-19, police said. However, the next day she was found missing.

Following this, an FIR was subsequently registered at the Tulinj Police Station under IPC Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).
