A clerk from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation has been arrested for accepting bribes

The Anti-Corruption Bureau said on Wednesday that it has detained a 54-year-old employee from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a real estate agent.

According to the ACB, the real estate agent had requested a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the civic council for a plot of property purchased by a customer in Kaman, Vasai.

According to the statement, the clerk, who worked for the local body’s town planning department and handled the land purchase file, allegedly wanted Rs 10,000 from the agent for the service, after which the latter went to the ACB.

On Tuesday, the ACB set a trap for the clerk, who was caught accepting the money in his office.
