VVMC Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy Toward Illegal Constructions
A VVMC spokesperson stated that the demolition drive is part of an ongoing citywide campaign to tackle illegal constructions and prevent accidents caused by structurally unsafe buildings.
The corporation emphasized that such illegal encroachments not only pose a threat to public safety but also hinder planned urban growth. Officials have confirmed that similar drives will continue across other wards in the coming weeks to ensure strict compliance with building norms.
Impact on Residents and Urban Development
The VVMC demolition drive Vasai Virar aims to send a strong message to builders and property owners who bypass legal permissions.
Local residents have expressed mixed reactions — while many support the civic body’s bold stance, others have urged for better awareness and guidance before demolitions.
For citizens planning to buy or construct property, VVMC advises checking building approvals and sanctioned plans through official civic records available on the VVMC website.
Previous Crackdowns and Future Plans
This is not the first time VVMC has taken such action. Similar demolition drives have been executed in past years across Virar, Nallasopara, and Vasai to remove unauthorized chawls, extensions, and commercial setups.
The civic body continues to focus on sustainable development, promoting proper construction practices and ensuring public safety in the rapidly expanding Vasai-Virar region.
