Hospital Project Gains Momentum After Land Hurdles Cleared

After years of delay, the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) has finally moved ahead with the plan to construct a 200-bed fully equipped hospital at Aachole, within Ward Committee ‘D’. The proposed site falls under reservation number 455 and survey number 6, covering two acres of land.

Recently, the Revenue Department officially transferred Survey No. 6/1, measuring a total of 6.08 hectares (of which 0.90.38 hectares are reserved for the hospital), to the municipal corporation. This decision resolved the long-standing land ownership dispute and allowed the project to proceed.

BJP and BVA Workers Clash During Survey

As VVMC officials visited the site on Friday for a field inspection, BJP MLA Rajan Naik and several BJP representatives were present. Coincidentally, former BVA Mayor Rupesh Jadhav also arrived at the same time, leading to a verbal altercation between members of the two parties.

Witnesses reported a tense atmosphere as both sides exchanged accusations. BJP leaders alleged that Rupesh Jadhav was deliberately trying to obstruct the hospital project, citing previous instances where he had allegedly done the same.

BJP’s Allegations Against Jadhav

According to BJP workers, the land adjacent to the hospital site belongs to a private builder and has been encroached upon by Rupesh Jadhav. They claim Jadhav’s interference is meant to protect those illegal structures under the pretext of property rights.

A BJP spokesperson stated, “The hospital project is meant for public welfare, and any attempt to delay it only harms the residents of Vasai-Virar. Those creating obstacles are doing so for personal motives.”

BVA’s Response: “We Initiated the Project”

Countering the accusations, Rupesh Jadhav clarified that he was only protecting his privately owned land adjacent to the proposed hospital site.

He stated, “Our plot has a protective wall built legally. When officials tried to enter our land without permission, I stopped them. It is false to say I opposed the hospital project.”

Jadhav further added that the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) had originally proposed the Aachole Hospital project during its tenure and had even moved the initial approval process through the municipal corporation.

“Those now posing for photographs and taking credit were nowhere to be seen when we were clearing encroachments and arranging funding,” Jadhav remarked sharply.

He accused BJP of trying to mislead the public by circulating edited videos that distort the truth.

Political Temperatures Rise Ahead of Civic Elections

With Vasai-Virar Municipal Elections approaching, the incident has once again exposed the growing rivalry between BJP and BVA. Notably, a similar confrontation had occurred earlier during the Aachole Hospital foundation stone ceremony, indicating ongoing political tension over the project.

As local residents await the long-promised hospital, political drama around the Aachole Hospital Survey Dispute continues to dominate the headlines.
