Vasai man murders wife, suspecting her of infidelity

A man murdered his wife by first suffocating her and then slitting her throat in Vasai on Sunday morning. He turned himself in to the Waliv police soon after the incident and was booked for murder.

The police said that Sandeep Jadhav (25) was suspicious of his wife Divya (19) being unfaithful. Sandeep who painted houses for a living, lived in the Navjeevan area of Vasai. The couple who had been married only for five months would have frequent arguments about this, the police officials added.

“On Sunday morning, Divya was lying on the bed when Sandeep strangulated her in a fit of rage. To make sure she was dead, he then slit her throat with a knife,” said an official from Waliv police.

According to the police, Sandeep came to them and confessed his crime only a couple of hours after committing it. “Around 1 pm on Sunday, two hours after the incident, he walked into the police station and told us he had killed his wife. We took him to his house where we found Divya’s body which was sent to the hospital for autopsy,” informed the official.

Sandeep was presented in Vasai court on Monday where the police was given his custody till October 12.
