The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday caught a tout who was illegally selling tickets worth ₹74,715 in Vasai.
Shailendra Gupta, a resident of Vasai, had a shop which provided money transfer services and also booked air and train tickets, an RPF official said.
“We received a tip-off that Mr. Gupta was running a racket charging ₹100 to ₹300 per ticket. He had an account as an agent with IRCTC, but he also had several bogus personal accounts, through which he would book tickets,” he said. Agents can book tickets only 30 minutes after bookings open for personal account holders. He has been booked under Section 143 of the Railway Act.
