A Hit Debut: Hitendra Thakur, who started his political career in 1988,

From Virar to Mumbai. No, we are not talking about Govinda here. Once upon a time, the Vasai-Virar belt dreaded the name of Hitendra Thakur. The same man is now entering Mumbai with his political party and will contest nearly 40 seats in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi (BVA) has two MLAs and one MP from the adjoining Thane district. The party is already interviewing prospective candidates here.

City builder who misused Dalit card to target activist loses court case

India Against Corruption Activist Kamlakar Shenoy was booked under SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

In 2005, when anti-corruption activist Kamlakar Shenoy took on a prominent city builder, he didn’t imagine that he would be booked for atrocities against a Dalit.
 
Recently, about five years after the accusations were levelled against him, he was acquitted of all charges by a Vasai court which found that his allegations against the Dalit builder were correct.

Imported cigarettes worth Rs1crore seized

The Marine and Preventive wing of Customs has seized a consignment of imported cigarettes worth Rs one crore in Vasai on Friday.

The consignment was concealed in a carpet behind soft drink crates in a shop. The shop owner has been arrested.
