Four contract killers were arrested from Malad and Saki Naka on March 1 for murdering an estate agent in Nalla Sopara on January 8. The main accused, Pravin Ranadive, who hired the killers, is absconding.
Mangesh Yadav, 45, an estate agent and a resident of Nilemore village in Nalla Sopara was hammered to death in his office by Shamsuddin Bashir Shaikh, Shailesh Khare, Prakash Gopal Giri Goswami and Akash alias Mahesh Shinde. The four men later fled in a stolen maruti car.
“During the course of investigation it was found that Yadav’s neighbour Randive had a fight with Yadav after Randive’s wife complained that Yadav was interested in having a sexual affair with her,” said PI Ashok Hunmane of Nalla Sopara police station.
“To teach Yadav a lesson, Ranadive hatched a plan and hired contract killers instructing them to break Yadav’s bones, but the men hit him so violently that Yadav died on the spot of head injuries,” PI Hunmane added. He also said that Yadav has six cases of molestation registered with various police stations in Vasai and Nalla Sopara.
“The killers arrived from Malad on January 8 at dawn in a Virar local and escaped in a stolen Maruti car provided by Ranadive. A hammer and two knives, provided by Ranadive and used for murdering Yadav have also been seized along with the car, which was left in a desolate spot at Nalla Sopara,” said the official further adding that the hunt for Ranadive is still on.
